ATTLEBORO, MA -- After clinching a first place finish in the New England Collegiate Conference in Saturday night's 62-49 win over Daniel Webster, Lesley has won the rights to host the NECC Tournament. Having secured a first round bye, Lesley's first game will be in the semifinal round on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Lynx (15-10 overall) earned the top spot in the tournament after posting a 13-3 conference record. Lesley will host the semifinals and championship on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26 in Quincy, MA on the campus of Eastern Nazarene College. In Friday's semifinals, Lesley will face Becker at 6:00 p.m., while Mitchell will meet the winner of the Daniel Webster at 8:00 p.m.
Mitchell College (14-9 overall) claimed the No. 2 seed by going 11-4 in conference play. Both Lesley and Mitchell have earned quarterfinal-round byes in the six-team tournament field.
Daniel Webster College (15-10 overall, 9-7 NECC) has earned the No. 3 seed, Newbury College (11-14, 9-7) will be the No. 4 seed, Becker College (10-14, 8-8) is the No. 5 seed and Elms College (9-16, 7-8) has claimed the No. 6 seed.
In quarterfinal action on Tuesday, February 22, No. 3 Daniel Webster will host No. 6 Elms in Nashua, N.H. at 7:00 p.m., while No. 4 Newbury will host No. 5 Becker on the campus of Hellenic College in Brookline, MA. at 6:00 p.m.
NECC tiebreaker procedures were used to determine the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, as Daniel Webster and Newbury finished with identical conference records of 9-7. Daniel Webster won the first criteria of head-to-head having defeated Newbury twice during the regular season on January 25th (70-53) and February 15th (73-41).
