NEWTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women’s
basketball travel to Lasell College with the hopes of ending their
four-game losing skid to start the season, but the Lynx lost the
Lasers 69-50 to drop to 0-5. Lasell improved to 2-5 and have won
back-to-back games after defeating Wheelock over the weekend.
Lasell jumped to an early lead in the first half by going on a 12-5
run to start the game. Six of those points were scored by Lasers
freshman Kim Archibald (LEWISTON, Maine/Lewiston)
who ended up with a game-high 20 points. Archibald also grabbed 14
rebounds, dished out four assists and had a steal.
By halftime, Lasell stretched their lead to 16 points, the largest
margin of the game thus far. The first period was capped off by a
lay by Tricia Culver (NORTHAMPTON,
Mass./Northampton) who was Lasell’s second leading
scorer with 16 points.
In the second half, Lesley managed to stay with the Lasers by
forcing 12 turnovers. Defensively, Jodi Fralick (WOBURN,
Mass./Woburn) and Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK,
N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) led the way with five and
four steals, respectively.
On the offensive side of the ball, Fralick led her team with 12
points, eight rebounds and three assists. Wechsler added nine
points in the losing effort.
Lesley outscored Lasell 17-0 in bench points and held a slight
advantage in second chance points with 12-9.
Lesley will host UMass Boston on Thursday, December 10 at 8:00 pm.
