BOSTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women’s
basketball squad traveling to Suffolk University for a
non-conference match up, but lost to the Rams 76-60. Lesley held a
one-point advantage at halftime but Suffolk quickly took the lead
in the second half and outscored the Lynx 41-24 in the period.
Lesley’s offensive charge was led by junior forward
Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy
Academy) who scored a game-high 23 points. Wechsler hit
7-of-12 shots from the floor including both of her three-point
attempts. Wechsler was also impressive from the free-throw line,
making 7-of-11.
At the point, Lesley’s Jodi Fralick had a solid game with
seven points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
For Suffolk, Laura Thompson (KENNEBUNK,
Maine/Kennebunk) came off the bench to score 20 points and
grab eight rebounds to lead her team. Lindsey Rogers
(GLOUCESTER, Mass./Gloucester) scored nine of her 12
points in the second half. Rogers also had eight rebounds, four
assists, and a steal.
A 36-35 Lesley lead at the start of the second half was short-lived
following a jumper made by Mara Dreiser (PORT EWEN,
N.Y./Kingston). Dreiser scored the first five points of
the half for the Rams who never relinquished their lead.
Suffolk got major contributions from their bench players,
outscoring the Lynx 37-6 in that category. They also held an 18-6
advantage in second chance points thanks to a +8 rebounding
margin.
Lesley will next take on Lasell College on Tuesday, December 8 in
Newton, Massachusetts.
