CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University women’s basketball junior Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) scored a game-high 21 points in a 51-42 Lynx victory over Becker College on Thursday evening. Lesley improved to 14-8 (13-2 NECC) going into the final game of the season.

Becker dropped to 8-16 (8-7 NECC) following the loss.

Wechsler hit 9-of-16 shots from the floor and added five rebounds, two steals, and an assist in the win. Along with Wechsler, senior Jodi Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) finished with a rare double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Lesley’s point guard also dished out six assists, forced three Hawk turnovers, and blocked a shot in 40 minutes on the court.

The Hawks were led by senior guard Courtney Fiske (WESTFIELD, Mass./Westfield) who had a team-high 19 points on 6-of-16 from the field including three three-pointers. Fiske also had six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Heidi Miller (SANBORNTON, N.H./Winnisquam) chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.

Defensively, both teams combined for 10 blocked shots and 19 steals. Lesley’s Hailee Lowe (HAMILTON, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional), who was honored before the game for scoring her 1,000th career collegiate point, led all players with four steals. Shannon Tibbetts (WARREN, Mass./Quaboag) and Theresa Boulier (EDDINGTON, Maine/Brewer) from Becker and Brianne Caira (PELHAM, N.H./Pelham) from Lesley all had two blocks each.

The Hawks struggled offensively for much of the game, shooting 24.1% (14-58 FG) from the floor as a team including 17.4% (4-23 3PT) from long range. The Lynx also struggled from beyond the arc with an 0-for-7 performance from that range.

Becker took advantage of 22 Lesley turnovers by converting those miscues into 19 points. The Lynx dominated the paint, outscoring the Hawks 26-12 and were effective on the fast break by scoring 12 points.

Lesley will next host Southern Vermont College on Saturday, February 20 at 1:00 pm for Senior Day. Becker travels to Mitchell College for a 1:00 pm game on Saturday, February 20.
