BOSTON, Mass. – Lesley senior Hailee Lowe (HAMILTON, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) became the third Lynx women’s basketball player in program history to score 1,000 career collegiate points with a second half layup against Wheelock College. Lowe joined Tia Cleckley (1,431 points) and Courtney Leakeas (1,138 points) as the only other Lesley women’s basketball players to reach this career milestone.

The Lynx won the game 71-47 and improved to 13-8 (12-2 NECC) while Wheelock dropped to 4-19 (3-11 NECC).

Needing just 10 points to reach 1,000 for her career, Lowe got the layup and a foul 3:56 into the second half with an assist from teammate Cassidy Freed (BRATTLEBORO, Vt./Brattleboro Union) to achieve the milestone.

Lowe had a rough start to basketball career with injuries both freshman and sophomore year as she only played a combined 25 games those two seasons. She played just 14 games her freshman year due to a back injury, but averaged 10.9 points per game. It was a broken hand sophomore year that caused Lowe to play only 11 games, but she was effective with an average of 13.9 points per game.

Junior year, Lowe was finally healthy and showed her true potential as a low-post threat by averaging 16.1 point per game in 26 games, leading the Lynx to their first ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) title thanks to dominating 30 point performance over Daniel Webster College in the championship game. Lowe earned NECC First Team All-Conference honors that season for her efforts.

Lowe is healthy once again this season and picked up where she left off as she has played in every game, scoring at a pace of 14.9 points per game. She has scored in double figures in all but three games this year and currently has a slight edge over teammate Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) as team’s leader in scoring. With two games left in the regular season and the potential for an addition two playoff games, Lowe has the opportunity to creep closer to the number two Lesley career scoring mark currently held by former teammate Courtney Leakeas.

Lowe’s 1,000th point was surely the highlight of last night’s game, but leading the team in scoring was Wechsler who had 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Freed adding eight points off the bench and junior Brianne Caira (PELHAM, N.H./Pelham) had a game-high 12 rebounds in the victory. Point guard Jodi Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) had six assists in the game and passed 100 total assists for the season.

Lesley will be back in action on Thursday, February 18 for a home game against Becker College starting at 8:00 pm. The Lynx will honor Lowe’s 1,000-point accomplishment with a brief pre-game ceremony.
