LEICESTER, Mass. – Lesley University’s Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) scored seven of her game-high 22 points in the final 1:50 of a conference game against Becker College to stun the Hawks 68-66. The Lynx improved to 6-8 (5-2 NECC) and jumped Mitchell College for second overall in the conference.

Becker dropped to 3-13 (3-4 NECC) following the loss and currently stands in sixth place in the conference.

Wechsler began her late-game tear by making one-of-two free throws with less than two minutes remaining in the game and the Lynx down 64-61. Becker’s Nicole Morse (ALTON, N.H./New Hampton) scored a layup in the paint at the other end of the court to put the Hawks back up by four at 66-62, but those would be the final points of the game by the home team. Wechsler proceeded to score the game’s final six points to catapult the Lynx to a dramatic come-from-behind triumph.

Along with Wechsler, Lesley seniors Hailee Lowe (HAMILTON, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) and Jodi Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) both had major contributions in victory. Lowe scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half to keep pace with Becker who held a 44-41 advantage at halftime. Lowe also finished with seven rebounds, four steals, two blocks, and an assist.

Lowe reached a personal milestone with 3:45 left in the first half as the senior scored her 900th and 901st career points in a Lesley uniform.

Fralick surpassed her single game career-high point total for the second time this season by netting 18 points. The guard did much of her damage in the second half by scoring 11 points on 4-of-8 from the floor including a three-pointer and by going 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. For the game, Fralick added to her NECC leading assist totals with six dishes, made three steals and grabbed five rebounds.

Becker was led by junior Heidi Miller (SANBORNTON, N.H./Winnisquam) who scored a team-high 17 points and had nine rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Three other Hawks were in double-figure points as Courtney Fiske (WESTFIELD, Mass./Westfield), Shannon Tibbetts (WARREN, Mass./Quaboag Regional), and Katleyn Cavanaugh (BELCHERTOWN, Mass./Belchertown) scored 15, 12, and 10 points apiece.

Lesley will be back in action on Thursday, January 28 at home against Elms College starting at 8:00 pm.
