Hailee Lowe named to NEWBA Honor Roll this week

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Lesley University women's basketball senior Hailee Lowe (HAMILTON, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll for her performances in two Lynx victories this past week.

The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Awards for the week of January 18-24 have now been posted on the NEWBA website (link).  

Player of the Week

Salem State College senior center Danielle Jenkins has been named New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week for the week of January 18-24.  Jenkins racked up 24.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per outing in a 2-1 week for the Vikings. She converted 62.2% (28-45) of her attempts from the field and 90% (18-20) of her free throw attempts. The center also chipped in with six asssists, five steals and six blocked shots. Jenkins recorded her first of two double-doubles in the week on Tuesday, when Salem State downed Framingham State College 79-48. She finished with 18 points, 10 boards and five blocks in the contest. She then exploded for 30 points and 10 rebounds in her team's 76-66 triumph over Fitchburg State College on Thursday. Jenkins rounded out her week with a 26-point, nine-rebound effort in an 83-69 setback at Bridgewater State College on Saturday.

 

Rookie of the Week

Emerson College first year forward Olivia DiNucci has been named New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week for the week of January 18-24. DiNucci accumulated 18.5 points and 4.0 rebound per game in a perfect 2-0 week for the Lions. She knocked down 48.0% (12-25) of her shots from the floor and all four of her free throw attempts. DiNucci opened the week with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting in a 65-37 victory at the University of Massachusetts Boston on Thursday. She netted five three pointers in the contest and also pulled down four rebounds. The forward then tallied 18 points in Emerson's 84-58 win over Lasell College on Saturday. Twelve of her points came as a result of four more treys.

 

Honor Roll
  • Karli Spera, Western Connecticut State University (Jr, G, Waterford, Conn.) - Spera delivered 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Western Connecticut State University. The forward knocked down 46.9% (15-32) of her shots from the floor and all eight of her free throw tries. She recorded 21 points against both Rhode Island College (Tuesday) and the University of Southern Maine (Saturday). The Colonials have not captured 13 straight wins.
  • Kathleen King, Babson College (So, F, Framingham, Mass.) - King averaged a double-double on 18.5 points ad 10.5 boards per contest in a pair of Babson College victories. She also contributed five assists and two steals. The forward notched 12 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the Beavers 80-51 triumph at Clark University on Wednesday. She then posted 16 points and nine boards in a 74-54 victory over Springfield on Saturday.
  • Caitlyn Laflin, University of Maine Farmington (Sr, F, Farmingdale, Maine) - Laflin contributed 20.3 points, 8.3 boards and 3.0 assists in a 2-1 week for the University of Maine Farmington. The forward shot 60.5% (26-43) from the field and also added a pair of steals. She was at her best in a 65-53 victory at Lyndon State College on Friday, when she piled up 20 points, 14 boards and five assists.
  • Cheri Parisi, Mount Ida College (Sr, F, South Attleboro, Mass.) - Parisi led Mount Ida College to a 1-1 week with her 25.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. The forward also chipped in with three assists and five steals. She posted 28 points and 13 rebounds in the Mustangs 88-56 triumph at St. Joseph College on Saturday. Parisi also notched a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds at Norwich University on Monday.
  • Hailee Lowe, Lesley University (Sr, F, Hamilton, Mass.) - Lowe exploded for 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.5 steals per outing in a 1-1 week for Lesley University. The forward knocked in 58.3% (21-36) of her attempts from the floor. She piled up 27 points, 12 boards and five steals in her team's 79-56 win over Newbury College on Saturday. Lowe also contributed 22 points at Daniel Webster College on Tuesday.

Milestones
  • Wheaton College senior guard Andrea Bailey became the program's all-time leader in career assists with her five helpers at Wellesley College on Wednesday. The previous record of 430 was established by Sharon Morrisseau in 1989. Bailey now has 438.
