Saints beat Lynx; Emmanuel coach wins 600th

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Although the Emmanuel College Saints trailed by one point in the first half to the Lesley University Lynx, the visiting Saints were able to put together a huge second half performance to win 73-59.  With the victory, Emmanuel Head Coach Andy Yosinoff earned his 600th career coaching victory.

Kristin Lebel (Tolland, Conn.) and Iman Davis (Toms River, N.J.) scored 26 and 23 points respectively for the Saints.  The top scorers for Emmanuel did much of their damage in the second half of the game as the duo scored 35 of the team's 46 points in the stanza.

Emmanuel also got a solid effort from freshman Liz Brooks (Charlton, Mass.) who led all rebounders with 10, including six on the offensive glass.  Brooks struggled in the field but managed to contribute with six points.

The Lynx were determined to make the game competitive as they came back from a seven-point deficit in the middle of the first half to eventually lead 28-27 at halftime.  Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) tallied double-digit points with 11 in the frame along with four rebounds and three blocked shots.

In the second half, Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) and Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) came alive offensively for the Lynx.  Wechsler netted 10 points and Cabral-Pini was dangerous from long range as she hit three shots from beyond the arc and totaled 12 points in the half.

The Saints, however, forced 15 second half turnovers and shot 50.0% from the floor to take a sizeable lead.  Emmanuel scored 36 points off 34 Lesley turnovers on the game.  The Lynx held the advantage in bench point contributions, leading 23-11.

Lesley will be back in action on December 13 at Emerson College starting at 3:00 pm while Emmanuel will next play on January 2 against Johnson & Wales down in Miami, Florida.
