Lesley 62, Bay Path 26

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's basketball team visited Bay Path College and the New England Collegiate Conference's league leading scorer on Saturday evening and won 62-26.  With the victory, Lesley is above a 0.500 record for the first time this season at 9-8 (8-0 NECC) while Bay Path dropped to 3-14 (1-7 NECC).

The Lynx held the NECC's leading scorer Jessica Hunt (Madison, Conn.) to 21 points as the junior was the only Wildcat to make a shot from the floor.  As a team, Bay Path shot 16.7% from the floor.

Lesley stepped up the defense against Hunt in the first half, limiting her to just one field goal attempt.  Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.), Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.), and Cassidy Freed (Brattleboro, Vt.) were all effective guarding the talented forward.

Offensively for the Lynx, Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) scored a team-high 12 points, most of which came from the free throw line as the sophomore hit 8-of-10 attempts.  Lowe was the only other Lesley player in double figures with 10 points.

Lesley center Caira grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in the win.

The Lynx were able to force 31 Wildcat turnovers in the game.  Lowe and Wechsler had five and three steals, respectively.   Lesley converted those turnovers into 29 points.

Lesley takes their undefeated NECC record into Mitchell College on Tuesday, February 3 at 7:00 pm.  Bay Path will host Wheelock College on the same day at 8:00 pm.
