Suffolk 58, Lesley 46

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Suffolk University women's basketball team got a 21-point effort out of freshman Julieanne Conrad (West Bridgewater, Mass.) in a 58-46 defeat of Lesley University on Thursday evening.  With the victory, the Rams improved to 6-4 on the season while the Lynx dropped to 1-8 heading into conference play.

Suffolk took advantage of a Lesley squad that committed 18 turnovers in the first half as the Rams were able to outscore their opponents 29 to 18.  Conrad was efficient from the field in the first half, as the forward his 5-of-8 shots for 11 points in the period. 

Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, Mass.) grabbed eight of her game-high 14 rebounds in the dominating first half.

The Lynx were a completely different team in the second half as they kept pace with the visiting Rams.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the second half as she hit 3-of-6 attempts from the field.  Wechsler was also 8-of-9 from the charity stripe for the game. 

Georgia Saltzman (Lynn, Mass.) netted all seven of her points in the second half and also tallied two steals.

Suffolk commanded the low-post as the Rams outscored the Lynx 26-6 in the paint.  The Rams were also able to create fast-break opportunities off missed shots, scoring 12 points in that category.

Lesley will next travel to Newbury College on January 10 for their first New England Collegiate Conference game of the season.  Suffolk will host Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Pine Manor College on January 13.
