Lynx win first conference game in 2007 against Bay Path

HOLYOKE, Mass. - In their first North Atlantic Conference game against Bay Path College, the Lesley University women's basketball won in impressive fashion 71-39 to improve their overall record to 4-2 (1-0 NAC).

Freshmen Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) and Cassidy Freed (Brattleboro, Vt.) both finished with 15 points each to lead the Lynx in scoring.  Freed was perfect from the field as she hit all seven of her shots.  Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) dropped 14 points including eight in the first 6:30 of the first half, a stretch in which Lesley stormed to a 21-3 advantage over Bay Path.

The Lynx also got a big game from junior point guard Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) who had eight assists, seven steals, and five points.  Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, Mass.) gave an impressive overall performance scoring eight points, grabbing eight defensive rebounds, and dishing out five assists.

Despite double-doubles from both Jessica Hunt (Madison, Conn.) and Chrissy Ordyna (Great Barrington, Mass.), Bay Path couldn't get the offense going as they shot 28.3% from the field and 52.0% from the free-throw line.  Hunt finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals while Ordyna had 13 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals as well.

Bay Path travels to Albertus Magnus College on Thursday Deceber 6 at 7 p.m. while Lesley waits until Saturday December 8 at 3 p.m. to play their next NAC opponent, Becker College.
