Suffolk 77, Lesley 56

BOSTON, Mass. - In a non-conference match up with Suffolk University before North Atlantic Conference play begins, the Lesley University women's basketball lost 77-56 at Regan Gymnasium on Saturday.

Sophomore Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) recorded a double-double in the loss with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) chipped in with 6 points and 10 defensive rebounds for the Lynx, while Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) was also impressive on the glass as she grabbed eight rebounds.  The second leading scorer for Lesley was Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) who dropped seven points.

Lesley took an early lead in the game, but Suffolk pulled off a 21-6 run over a five minute stretch to take the lead.  With a 41-31 advantage to start the second half, the Rams scored 22 of the next 28 points to put the Lynx in a big hole.

Suffolk sophomore Stephanie Zito (Guilford, Conn.) scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead four players in double-figures for the Rams.  Christie Iwanicki (Newtown, Conn.) had an impressive overall day tallying 13 points, five steals, and four assists in the win.  Her five steals were part of a 34 turnover effort by the Suffolk defense.

The Suffolk victory and Lesley loss brought both teams to a season record of 3-2.

Suffolk will next travel to Curry College, while Lesley will open up North Atlantic Conference play with a road game at Bay Path College on Tuesday December 4 at 8 p.m.
