Lynx saddle Mustangs in 83-60 victory

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University had three double-digit scorers as the Lynx defeated the Mount Ida College Mustangs 83-60 to improve their early season record to 3-1 (0-0 NAC).

Reigning North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) continued her impressive 2007-2008 campaign with 21 points, 17 in the first half.  Lowe also had six rebounds, three steals, and one block in the winning effort.

The second half was led by senior Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, Mass.) and freshman Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) who had 14 and 12 points, respectively.  Leakeas was one rebound away from a double-double, grabbing nine boards and Caira was strong defensively, tallying four blocks and two steals.

The Mustangs were led by sophomore forward Cherie Parisi (South Attleboro, Mass.) as she netted 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, seven of them offensive.  Parisi was solid from the line too, hitting six of seven free throws.  Mount Ida also had a strong performance from Elise McLear (Swansea, Mass.) who was in double-digit points with 10 and also contributed defensively with three steals.

At the end of the first half, the two teams were nearly even in scoring with Lesley holding a one-point margin.  The second half was a different story, however, as the Lynx outscored the Mustangs 46-24 behind the hard play of Leakeas and Caira.

With the loss, Mount Ida falls to 1-4 (0-0 GNAC) on the season and will take on Anna Maria College on December 1 at home.

Lesley will travel to Suffolk University on Saturday December 1 for their game at 4 p.m.
