WHITINGHAM, Vt. - In the first weekend of basketball action for Lesley University, a freshman player from both the men's and women's squads earned North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week honors.
Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) averaged 13.0
points per game and 9.0 rebounds at the Bon Appetit Classic
Tip-Off, a tournament in which she earned MVP honors and helped her
team win the championship. On the weekend, Caira also had
three blocked shots, four steals, and two assists. Her most
impressive game came against Yeshiva University where she totaled a
double-double netting 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, six of
them offensive.
On the men's side, Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) has already proved that he will be a crucial part to offensive this season for Lesley. Trejo averaged 16.0 points per game and 10.5 rebounds in two weekend games against high ranked Keene State College and Salve Regina at the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament. Defensively, Trejo blocked six shots on the weekend. In Lesley's second game against Salve Regina, Trejo scored 15 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and blocked three shots in his best performance thus far in a Lynx uniform.
Both the men and women will be in action on Tuesday night November 20. The men will have their first home game of the season against Eastern Nazarene College at 8 p.m. at BB&N gymnasium. The women will travel to Regis College in Weston, Mass. to play at 7 p.m.
