Bon Appetit Classic Tip-Off Tournament Day 2

Lesley tops Anna Maria 93-23 to win the Bon Appetit Classic

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Courtney Leakeas (Lowell, Mass.) scored a game high 20 points to help lead the Lesley University women's basketball team to a tournament championship victory over Anna Maria College 93-23.

Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.), Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio), and Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) netted 16, 14, and 12 points each to help lead an offensive outburst from the Lynx.  Dishing out the points were Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) and Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) who had nine and six assists, respectively.

Anna Maria stayed aggressive the entire game but couldn't get many buckets to fall.  The leading scorer for Anna Maria was Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.) who had seven points.

The Lynx broke the half century mark in the first half, taking a 51-13.  The second half was no different as Lesley took advantage of several turnovers from Anna Maria.  The Lynx controlled every aspect of the game as they took the advantage in points off turnovers, points in the paint, fast break points, and bench points.

Head Coach Dan Hunt commented on his team's performance this weekend, "I think this is a great start to the season.  We talked about defense dictating who we are as a team and we made a commitment on the defensive end.  Everyone played a part in both wins, and I think it was great to have some early success.  Hopefully we will continue to grow as a team in the coming months."

For her efforts this weekend, freshman center Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) was named MVP of the tournament while teammates Lani Cabral-Pini and Hailee Lowe were given All-Tournament honors.

Lesley will travel to Regis College on Tuesday November 20 for their next game.
