Wechsler wins Rookie of the Week for third time this season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Freshman Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) is making a strong case to the rest of the North Atlantic Conference for being Rookie of the Year as she has been honored as Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

In a must-win game against Thomas College for the Lynx to keep their playoff hopes alive, Wechsler carried Lesley offensively as she had her best game of the season scoring 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting.  She also hit 10-of-12 free throw attempts as well as tallying two assists and two steals.  The Lynx lost to the Terriers, but Wechsler provided a glimpse of what Lesley fans will see for the next three years.

In their next game against UMaine-Farmington, Wechsler finished off her season strong as she finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

On the week, the freshman forward averaged 20.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, and 2.0 spg and will now wait to see if her rookie campaign was good enough to earn her Rookie of the Year honors from the NAC.
