Cabral-Pini dominates Elms on Senior Night

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On senior night for the Lynx, the women's basketball team defeated Elms College 79-33 to improve their record to 11-12 (5-7 North Atlantic Conference) while the Blazers dropped to 8-16 (5-9 NAC).

Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) had her best game of the season as she scored 15 points on an impressive 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.  Cabral-Pini hit all three of her shots from beyond the arc and both of free throw attempts.  She also finished with four steals and two assists on the game.

Seniors Courtnie Leakeas and Kaitlin Laquerre played in their final home games in a Lesley uniform.  Leakeas tied teammate Cabral-Pini with a game-high 15 points.  Laquerre finished with two points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in the winning effort.

Three other Lynx players were in double-figures including Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.), Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) and Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) who scored 14, 13, and 10 points, respectively.  Caira nearly had a double-double as she grabbed eight rebounds and also contributed defensively with two blocks and two steals.  Harrington was effective from long range, hitting 3-of-6 of her three-point attempts.  She also contributed to 17 total steals for the Lynx, tallying four of her own.

The Blazers got a team-high seven points off the bench from Ally Wanat (West Springfield, Mass.).  Annie Dunnack (Mansfield Center, Conn.), Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, Conn.) and Shauna Sullivan (Chicopee, Mass.) each scored six points a piece.

Lesley went on a 9-0 run to start the game and never looked back.  The Lynx went into halftime up 40-14 and in the second half never allowed the Blazers to cut their lead lower than 28 points.

The victory puts the Lynx in a good position to make the playoffs going into this weekend's contests at Thomas College and UMaine-Farmington.  The Blazers will have their final regular season game of the season against NAC opponent Wheelock College on Saturday February 23.
