Lynx fall to Spartans 65-42

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) had 11 points, 5 steals, 5 rebounds and 3 assists but it was not enough as the Lynx lost to the Castleton State College Spartans 65-42.

Cabral-Pini led the attack against the Spartans and got support from Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, Mass.) who had 12 points, and Kaitlin Laquerre (Hudson, NH) who added 8 points and 5 rebounds of her own.

The Spartans were led by Jenn Whiting (Granville, N.Y.) who had 17 points and 9 rebounds in the game, including her 1,000th career point.  LeeAnne Ketchen (Brookline, N.H.) and Mary Nienow, (Middlebury, Vt.) had 11 points each in the win.

Lesley actually won the turnover battle, forcing 19 turnovers and coming up with 12 steals, while making only 14 turnovers themselves.  However, the key to the Castleton victory was their shooting.  The Spartans out shot the Lynx 40% to 23% overall and 37% to 5% from three-point land in the game.

The Lynx got behind in the game early and were never able to come back.  They trailed by 17 at halftime and were able to pace the Spartans during the second half, but were never able to chip away at the lead.

With the loss the Lynx fall to 2-6 and 0-5 in the NAC.  For more information on the Lesley women's basketball team please go to their website.
