Lesley gets revenge on Elms, wins 65-48

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) had a game high 17 points and Lesley University got revenge on Elms College, defeating the Blazers 65-48.

It was a very emotional night at the Nichols Athletic Center as Lesley University saw Christine Buchanan (Nantucket, Mass.) play in her final home game at Lesley University.  The senior forward has been a very influential member of the Lynx for the past four years, leaving her name firmly entrenched in the Lesley records book.  Buchanan will leave as the third leading scorer, rebounder and blocker in school history.  Buchanan also set the Lesley University record for most career games played as she passed her good friend and former teammate Christine Niosi with 99 games played.

Buchanan's teammates did not let her down in her finally home game as they grabbed control of the game early and dominated Elms in every aspect of the game the rest of the way.

The Lynx led by only four at the half but turned the pressure on in the second half as they shot 46% from the floor and 42% from beyond the arc in the second frame.  Lesley outscored Elms 41-28 in the second half, cruising to the 17 point win.

Lesley got a great performance out of Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, Mass.) who scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds and added seven steals.  Kaitlin Laquerre (Hudson, N.H.) chipped in with 10 points, and Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) added 11 points of her own.  Harrington also added a couple huge three-pointers at key points to sink the Blazers.

Lesley's defense was overwhelming as not one Blazer was able to score in double-figures.  The Lynx also forced 28 Elms' turnovers.

Elms was led by Paige Schneider who had eight points and 10 rebounds before fouling out, and Annie Dunnack added eight points and six rebounds of her own.

With the win the Lynx improve to 7-17 overall and 4-13 in the NAC.  Lesley plays its final game of the year against Framingham State College on Saturday, February 17th.  For more information on the Lesley women's basketball team please go to their website.
