Hot start for Lynx not good enough to beat Terriers

WATERVILLE, Me. - Lesley opened the game on a 10-0 run but was unable to hold on as the Thomas College Terriers defeated the Lynx 64-57.

The Terriers had absolutely abysmal shooting in the first half.  Thomas shot 19% from the floor and 11% from the three-point line.  The Lynx took advantage of this and led by four, 26-22 at the half.

Lesley was led by Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) who had a game-high 18 points  Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) contributed eight points for the Lynx.  Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, Mass.) had seven points and added seven rebounds.  Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) led the defensive effort as she had five steals.

Thomas was led by a trio of scorers.  Amy Miles (Waldo, Me.), Brittany Morin (Winslow, Me.) and Karen Demers (Sanford, Me.) had 16, 14 and 11 points respectively.

Lesley opened the second half with back-to-back Leakeas jumpers, extending the lead to eight.  Miles and Thomas would respond as Miles drained consecutive three's to bring the Terriers to within two with 12:33 remaining.

Lesley would continue to defend the lead but with 11:19 remaining Thomas would grab the lead for the first time all game.

Lesley would not back down so easily.  With 2:59 remaining Lowe would tie the game up at 52.  However, Thomas got hot late and closed the game on a 12-5 run en route to the seven point win.
