• Lynx exit NECC Championships in the first round

    BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Lesley University men’s volleyball team took on a talented Newbury College Nighthawks team in the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference Championships and were defeated 3-0 (6-30, 7-30, 12-30). The Lynx came in as the #4 seed in the tournament while the Nighthawks were the #1 seed.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Newbury College has claimed the top seed for the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men’s Volleyball Championship, which takes place Saturday, March 28th on the campus of Hellenic College in Brookline, Mass. The Nighthawks (22-10 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after finishing with a 7-1 conference record.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass. – All five sponsored programs were represented on the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, three separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In their final home game of the 2009 regular season, the Lesley University men’s volleyball team lost to Daniel Webster College 3-0 (30-26, 30-24, 30-22). The victory for the Eagles solidified their hold on third place in the New England Collegiate Conference heading into the conference playoffs.

    BROOKLINE, Mass. – In a tri-match with Newbury College and Southern Vermont College, the Lesley University men’s volleyball team won one and lost one to bring their 2009 record to 3-17. The Lynx lost their first match to Newbury 3-0 (30-13, 30-11, 30-19) and then beat Southern Vermont 3-0 (30-12, 30-26, 30-19).

    BOSTON, Mass. – Zach Almeida-Beers (Rehoboth, Mass.) recorded a team-high nine kills, but his effort was not enough for the Lynx to defeat Emerson College as the Lions won 3-0 (24-30, 23-30, 25-30). Lesley dropped to 2-16 (1-10 NECVA) on the season and will look to rebound at this Saturday’s tri-match against Newbury College and Southern Vermont College.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men’s volleyball team was defeated by Wentworth Institute of Technology 3-0 (30-16, 30-10, 30-12) on Tuesday evening and saw their 2009 record fall to 2-15 (1-4 NECC, 1-10 NECVA). Wentworth improved to 9-8 (6-6 NECVA) with the straight set victory.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The #10 ranked team in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association, Endicott College, defeated Lesley University 3-0 (30-9, 30-12, 30-23) on Monday evening. With the victory, the Gulls improved to 15-7 (9-0 NECVA) while Lesley dropped to 1-14 (1-9 NECVA, 1-4 NECC) on the season.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming off their first victory of the 2009 season, the Lesley University men’s volleyball team was defeated by cross-town rivals the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in straight sets 3-0 (30-10, 30-12, 30-12). The Lynx fell to 1-11 (1-7 NECVA) while MIT improved to 9-9 (5-3 NECVA).

    BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Lesley University men’s volleyball team competed in a tri-match at Southern Vermont College that included Newbury College on Saturday afternoon. The Lynx were able to split with their opponents, earning their first season victory over Southern Vermont.

    NASHUA, N.H. – Nick Assad (Andover, Mass.) spiked home a team-high eight kills on 10 total attacks, but the junior’s efficient performance was not enough in a 3-0 loss to Daniel Webster College Wednesday evening. The Lynx dropped to 0-6 (0-2 NECC) on the season while the Eagles improved to 2-1 (2-0 NECC).

    BEVERLY, Mass. – The Lesley University men’s volleyball team was defeated in straight sets by Endicott College 3-0 (11-30, 14-30, 20-30) on Thursday evening. Their 2009 record fell to 0-4 (0-3 NECVA NE) while Endicott improved to 5-3 (4-0 NECVA NE).
