THE LEAD – The Lynx went up against Rivier in a non-conference matchup, dropping to the Raiders and giving them their fifth-straight victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier buzzed out to a 14-5 lead just 4:55 into the opening half. Lesley turned up the heat offensively and cut that lead down to five points with just a few minutes to go.
- With 10 seconds to go Christian Castro nailed a three-pointer, followed by a buzzer-beater from Nikolas Pignone to head into halftime with a 7-point lead in favor of the Raiders.
- Lesley whittled the deficit down to two points after a pair of free-throws from Jamarick Preston.
- The Raiders continued to try and break away from the Lynx, but the defense held it down and kept the game tight. Another 3-pointer from Castro with 16 seconds remaining made it a five-point ballgame.
- Two free-throws from Odarious Cade clinched the win 75-68.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Malachi Howard led the Lynx with 24 points and eight rebounds.
- Castro went 3-3 from the arc, tallying a total of 15 points on the match.
