Howard's 20-10 Game Cannot Lift Lynx Over Pilgrims

GAME OVERVIEW:

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley Men's Basketball team dropped a conference matchup to the New England College Pilgrims 86-70 on Wednesday night. The Lynx drop to 2-16 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the Pilgrims advance to 9-11 and 2-1 in the NECC.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • NEC got out to a quick 18-2 lead, but the Lynx were able to eventually battle back to within eleven points. The Pilgrims stretched their lead back to 13 at halftime before opening the second half with an 8-3 run.
  • Lesley cold not put any runs together, though they scored 42 points in the second half compared to their 28 first half points. NEC was able to force enough turnovers to keep themselves ahead and take scoring chances away from the Lynx. Calvin Cheek was his useful stealthy self, picking up seven steals to go along with 15 points.
  • Malachi Howard had a strong performance on both ends for Lesley. Coming off the bench, Howard scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while also blocking three shots. Gabe McCrary added 19 points and eight rebounds, while Marco Powells had 15 and 9.
  • Jamal Allen led his side, scoring 25 points and taking twenty shots for the Pilgrims. Michael Tavilla had 16 points and 9 boards, while Errol Crawford collected eleven rebounds before suffering an injury.
