Lynx Cannot Match Mariners in Conference Opener

GAME OVERVIEW:

NEW LONDON, CT. -- The Lesley Men's Basketball team returned from their winter break with a 119-91 loss to Mitchell College in their first conference action of the season. The Lynx drop to 2-11 overall and 0-1 in the NECC, while the Mariners advance to 9-8 and 1-0 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Lesley was simply outshot in this one, as the Mariners shot 69.5% in the first half and 63.6% for the game. Mitchell also made eight of twelve three point attempts and took advantage of the Lynx down low, while Lesley only shot nine for twenty-three from three.
  • Mikey Buscetto was the prototypical point guard for Mitchell, scoring only eight points himself but dishing out twenty total assists. Buscetto also picked up six steals while helping Alfonzo Stokes and Robert Zirlis each score twenty points.
  • Kyle Murphy was efficient for the Lynx, making eight of eleven shots on his way to an eighteen point night. Gabe McCrary had 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in this one, while Scott Barlow added eleven off the bench.
