Lynx Lose Heartbreaker to Rams in Final Seconds

GAME OVERVIEW:

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley Men's Basketball team lost in the final seconds against Framingham State on Saturday afternoon by a score of 61-59. The Lynx fall to 2-7 this season, while the Rams advance to 2-9 with the win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • It was a back-and-forth affair the entire game, with the Lynx getting the better of the Rams in the first half. Framingham was able to effectively shut down Lesley's leading scorer, Gabe McCrary, but Kyle Murphy and Marco Powells were able to keep the Lynx in it. Murphy had ten points in the first half, while Powells had nine with seven free throw attempts.
  • McCrary was able to heat up a little in the second half, while Powells stayed hot, but the Rams got good efforts from Javaris Hill and Keith Hollman to keep pace.
  • The Rams pulled ahead by five points with four minutes to go, but the Lynx were able to score four of the next five points to stay in it. McCrary made his first three of the game to bring the Lynx within one with a minute left, but was followed up by a Hollman layup. Powells then hit the biggest shot of the day at the time, a three-pointer with an assist by McCrary to tie the game with thirty seconds remaining.
  • Framingham got their chance to take the lead when a bang-bang play at the rim was called a blocking foul on Scott Barlow. Jahden Erold sunk both free throws with five seconds left and the Rams were able to keep the Lynx from getting a shot off to close out the game.
  • Powells lead both teams with 20 points, while McCrary added ten points, five rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Hollman lead the Rams with 18 points, while Hill and Erold each had twelve.
  • The Rams did most of their work in the paint, scoring 48 points and not making a single three on the day. The Lynx sunk enough from deep to stay in the game, while also forcing 33 turnovers and scoring 24 points off of the Rams' mistakes.
