Tufts Takes Over in Second Half to Defeat Lynx 99-76

GAME OVERVIEW:

BOSTON, MA. -- The Lesley Men's Basketball team lost their fourth game in a row on Saturday evening, this time falling 99-76 to the Tufts University Jumbos in UMass-Boston's Black Coaches Classic. The Lynx drop to 2-5 this season, while the Jumbos' first win puts them at 1-4.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Both teams were nearly identical in the first half, though the Tufts bench had to keep them in the game after getting only 15 points from their starters. The Jumbos shot 18 for 36 from the field in the first half, while the Lynx shot 18 for 37. Tufts made 6 of 17 threes, while Lesley made 7 of 17. Both teams made both of their free throws attemtpts.
  • Gabe McCrary continued a string of strong performances, scoring 13 points in the first half, while Scott Barlow had a breakout performance off the bench. Barlow collected 16 first half points on 4 for 7 three point shooting. Tufts, meanwhile, relied on strong performances from six bench players, while Brennan Morris led the starters with nine points. Lesley took a 45-44 lead into half.
  • The second half saw each teams's fortunes turn in opposite directions. Morris led the way for Tufts with 11 points, while Dylan Thoerner added ten. The Jumbos shot 56.1% from the field in the first half, while the Lynx lost their momentum and shot only 32.4% for the second half.
  • McCrary was the only Lynx making shots in the second half, collecting 19 points to finish with a total of 32 on the night. No other Lesley player had more than four second half points.
