Lynx Struggle to Keep up With Engineers in Saturday Loss

GAME OVERVIEW:

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley Men's Basketball team had a difficult time staying with the MIT Engineers on Saturday afternoon, falling 96-39. The Lynx drop to 2-2 overall this season, while the Engineers advance to 2-2.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • MIT pulled out ahead quickily while the Lynx were unable to get a shot to sink in the first five minutes. After starting on an 8-0 run, the Engineers took an insurmountable lead into half. Led by 17 points off the bench from Spencer Lin, MIT were up 59-21 after the first twenty minutes.
  • It was more of the same in the second half, this time with Kade Killeen and Charles Rich leading the Engineers. Rich had eleven second half points before the starters were pulled and Killen tallied eleven from the bench. None of Lesley's starters saw more than five minutes in the second half, with the bench being called upon to finish out the game. Leo Weingarten had six points for the Lynx in the second half.
  • The big advantages for the Engineers were in efficiency and turnovers. MIT scored 30 points off of Lesley's twenty turnovers and they finished the game shooting 58.6% from the field, including an incredible 47.4% from beyond the arc.
  • None of the Lynx players scored in double digits against a tough MIT defense. Marco Powells led with nine points, while Gabe McCrary had seven. Lin finished with 21 points and Killeen finished with 18, while Dan Pilsbury added a double-double of 13 points and 11 assists.
