Langford Impresses as Lynx Defeat Mariners 79-75

GAME OVERVIEW:

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley Men's Basketball team picked up a close win against Maine Maritime 79-75 on Friday night. The Lynx advance to 2-1 overall this season, while the Mariners fall to 0-2.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Lynx won the first half easily, forcing turnovers and taking advantage of second half opportunities to take a 40-28 lead into halftime. Michael Langford made his mark early, shooting 7-9 from the field in the first half for 18 points. He added four rebounds and three steals. Gabe McCrary collected nine points and six assists in the first half.
  • Carter Rubin and Cameron Gerlach came to life for the Mariners in the second half, bringing their team back to within five points. All thirteen of Rubin's points came in the second half before he fouled out, while Gerlach added twelve points, five assists, and seven rebounds in the second half.
  • McCrary and Langford continued their strong performances in the second half to keep the Lynx ahead. Maine Maritime was never able to take a lead the entire game because the Lynx were able to pick up stops when it mattered. Lesley also converted on second chance opportunities, scoring 14 second chance points. Langford picked up eleven second half rebounds, six of them offensive.
  • Langford finished the game with a total of 26 points and 15 rebounds, along with five steals. McCrary had 20 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and another five steals. Lesley forced 26 turnovers, with fourteen of them being on steals, while Maine Maritime could only collect two steals on 15 forced turnovers.
