Men's Basketball Win Streak Snapped at Daniel Webster

NASHUA, N.H. – The Lesley University men's basketball team split the season series against Daniel Webster College following a 92-82 loss in New England Collegiate Conference action Saturday afternoon in Nashua. The Lynx snapped a three-game winning streak falling to 12-6 on the season and 6-3 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 10-6 and 4-3 in the NECC.

The Lynx will be back in action Tuesday, January 24th when they host Regis College at 8:00p in Cambridge, Mass. The Eagles will also be in action Tuesday evening when they travel to Chicopee, Mass. for a 7:00 p.m. tilt against Elms College.

In an atypical slow offensive first half for the Lynx, Daniel Webster began to pull away midway through the period utilizing a 9-1 run to stake a 21-13 lead. Junior guard Will Gibson (Melbourne, Fla.) snapped the two-minute streak with a lay-up to cut the Eagle lead down to two possessions, 21-15.

After Daniel Webster junior forward Jaquan Harrison (Windsor, Conn.) extended their lead back to eight points, Lesley senior forward Pierre St. Simon (Farmingdale, N.Y.) brought back down to seven when he knocked down one of two from the charity stripe to cut the deficit to 23-16.

Eagles senior guard Angelo Adon (Stamford, Conn.) quickly pushed the lead back to double-digits as he capped off a mini 5-0 run with a triple to give the Eagles their largest lead of the half, 28-16.

The Lynx offense started to come alive at the end of the first half. With 2:35 remaining on the clock, St. Simon converted an old-fashioned three-point play to bring the Lynx back to within single digits, 30-21. Sophomore forward Xeo Golding (Windermere, Fla.) closed out the half with a euphoric dunk to close the gap to seven, 32-25, heading into the locker room.

When the teams returned to the court at the beginning of the second half, the Eagle offense came out rejuvenated, opening with a 7-0 run before forcing Lesley to take a timeout.

Coming out of the timeout, sophomore forward Joey Martin (Melbourne, Fla.) drained a long-range trey from junior guard Marquise Johnson (Hampton, Va.) to ignite a 7-0 run and pull within seven, 39-32. As much as the Lynx were inching closer to tying the game the more the Eagles kept pushing back out in front and used an 8-2 spurt to push their advantage back to 13, 47-34.

Junior guard Devon Mayo (Newport News, Va.) answered the Eagles run with back-to-back three's at the 13:35 mark in the second to pull the Lynx back to within seven, 47-40. But it was as close as they would get.

Eagles sophomore guard Jared Harrington (Upper Marlboro, Md.) was a perfect eight-for-eight from the charity stripe in the second half to seal Daniel Webster's tenth victory. Harrington was one of four Eagles to record double-figures, tallying 14 points. Adon led the way with 20 points – includign 12 from beyond the arc – off the bench while Caudill followed up with 17 points and eight rebounds. Senior forward Ray Farmer (Nashua, N.H.) rounded out the Eagles in double-digits with 14 points.

St. Simon led three Lynx in double figures, tallying 17 points while shooting five-of-seven from the free-throw line. Johnson was five-of-eight from the field for 14 points while Mayo rounded out the Lynx with 12 points in 14 minutes.
