Quick Start Powers Regis Over Lynx

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Regis College got off to a blazing start, scoring the game's first thirteen points en route to a 69-56 win over Lesley tonight at Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols. Sophomore forward Evin Matted (Hartford, Conn.) had 14 points to go with his seven rebounds for the Pride, who moves to 7-14 on the year and 7-5 in NECC play. The Lynx fall to 6-15 overall and 4-8 in the conference

The Pride shot 50% from the floor in the opening half, including knocking down 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Freshman guard Carlos Bermudez-Glean (Boston, Mass.) was impressive as he went 5-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from deep to score 12 points in the first twenty minutes. Bermudez-Glean finished the night with 14.

Lesley struggled to get going as they came up empty on their first seven trips down the floor. They would heat up, however, and hit their next 11-of-18 attempts from the field.

The Pride built up an 18-4 lead following an Ethan Peana (Staten Island, N.Y.) layup just over nine minutes into play. Forward Kris Bennett (Inglewood, Calif.) carried Lesley's offense as the Lynx attempted to trim the lead. Bennett scored eight of the first 13 points for Lesley who were kept at bay by aggressive defense from Regis.

With just under five minutes to play in the opening frame, Regis would extend their lead to 34-18, but Lesley was able go on a 10-4 run to cut the lead to ten going into halftime, 38-28. The Lynx got four points apiece during the run from freshmen Anthony Mattocks (Sarasota, Fla.) and Brian Gladowski (Roseville, Calif.) and capped it on a buzzer-beating layup by Bennett.

The Lynx were able to cut the lead to single-digits in the first minute of play during the second half following two made Mattocks free throws, but Regis would answer right back with a 4-0 run to push their cushion back to 12.

Holding a 48-38 advantage with 12:09 left to play, the Pride put the game out of reach with a 10-1 spurt over the next three minutes. Freshman Jordan Monts (Springfield, Mass.) had four during the run while sophomore Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) chipped in with three of his 13 points on the night.

Junior Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) finished with eight points while Monts also finished with eight off the bench for Regis. Matted distributed the ball well out of the post, as he added a game-high six assists to his line.

Sophomore Justin Rosa (East Brunswick, N.J.) had 12 points for the Lynx while Mattocks finished with a team-high fourteen.

The Lynx return to action on Thursday night when they host Daniel Webster College for an 8:00p tip-off while Regis will welcome Wheelock College for a 7:00p start.
