STRONG SECOND HALF LEADS ENDICOTT PAST LESLEY

STRONG SECOND HALF LEADS ENDICOTT PAST LESLEY

(CAMBRIDGE, Mass.) – Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.) and John Henault (Lunenburg, Mass.) scored 18 points each to help lead the Endicott College men's basketball team past Lesley University 75-62 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols (BBN) gymnasium in Cambridge. With the victory the Gulls improve to 6-2 while the Lynx fall to 3-7.

Justin Rosa (East Brunswick, N.J.) led the Lynx with a team high 17 points while Valentine Emebo (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

The Lynx high tempo offensive opened the game firing on all cylinders taking a quick 9-0 lead less than four minutes into play. Endicott settled down as Henault drained a 3-pointer to put the Gulls on the board and start a 10-1 run that would see Endicott tie the game at 10-10 at the 13:18 mark of the half.

Endicott stretched their lead to nine (33-24) with 31-seconds remaining but a lay-up by Matt Gibson (Quincy, Mass.) and an Emebo 3-point play the hard way cut the lead to four (33-29) heading into the break.

Endicott quickly stretched their lead to 12 (41-29) in the second half with Greene and Henault drilling back-to-back 3-pointers to open play. The Gulls continued their hot shooting as the lead would grow to 18 (61-43) with 7:18 to play. Despite the deficit the Lynx continued to battle as Garret Hendren (Las Cruces, N.M.) drained two straight 3-pointers to pull the Lynx to within 12 points.

Lesley cut the lead to eight (69-61) on a Rosa three with 2:39 to play but Endicott would prove to be too much on the afternoon as they settled down on defense, holding Lesley to just one field goal the rest of the way.

Endicott shot 39.1 percent from the field including 9-22 from long range and 16-18 from the charity stripe while controlling the boards 48-33. Lesley finished 35.6 percent from the field but hit on just 4 of 20 from behind the arc.

The Lynx enter break and do not return to action until after the New Year when they take on NECC opponent Elms College on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. in Chicopee, Mass. Endicott also returns to action after the New Year when they travel to take on Salem State on Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Salem. Mass.
