Lynx drop regular season finale to Eagles, 76-67

NASHUA, NH -- Kris Bennett led all players with 16 rebounds, but Lesley dropped its regular season finale at Daniel Webster on Saturday, 76-67, in NECC men's basketball play.

Lesley guard John Sanchez poured in a game-high 27 points in his final NECC contest as a Lynx, hitting 3-5 from three-point range. Freshman Justin Rosa came off the bench for 12 points, and Bennett rounded out a trio of double-figure scorers with 12 points to cap his double-double.

Guard Daris Cosby led the Eagles with 22 points on 6-8 shooting from three-point range, putting his team on his back in the second half, and John Hickson added 14 on 3-6 shooting from deep.

All three of Hickson's trey's came in the first half, helping Daniel Webster open a 36-26 halftime lead. Cosby canned threes on back-to-back possessions to break a 2-2 tie, and Daniel Webster would ultimately lead from that point on. A pair of Sanchez buckets forced an Eagles timeout with the home team clinging to a 27-23 lead at the 5:00 mark of the first, but Daniel Webster then sparked a 9-0 run, going into halftime up 10.

For the second Eagles, the second half turned into The Cosby Show, as the 6-foot-3 guard came out white-hot after the half. His four-point play sparked a string of three straight three-pointers for the Eagles sophomore, going on his own personal 12-5 run to open up a 50-30 lead, effectively putting the Lynx away.

For Lesley, Rosa scored nine of his 12 in the second, when sophomore Mike Kaufman grabbed 10 of his 11 rebounds.

Lesley awaits the results of this evening's Southern Vermont-Regis contest to determine the Lynx NECC playoff possibilities.
