Lynx Fall To No. 9 MIT

Cambridge, MA- The Lynx Of Lesley University fell to No. 9 MIT Saturday afternoon in a regional match up, as four Engineers scored double figures in the 92-52 non-conference game.

MIT shot over 55 percent from the field and was perfect from the foul line. The Engineers were able to hold Lesley to 30.9 percent shooting from the floor en route to improving upon their undefeated record this season. 

John Sanchez (Carson, CA) led the Lynx with 13 points with more than half coming from the foul line. Mike Kaufman (Boca Raton, FL) added 11 points for the visitors and Justin Rosa came off the bench to put up eight points in the setback.  

Mitchell Kates (Colts Neck, NJ) had a season-high 28 points and led all scorers. Kates was perfect from the field, also adding six assists and five rebounds. Billy Bender (The Woodlands, TX) recorded a career-high 12 rebounds with 10 points for a double-double performance. Noel Hollingsworth (Salt Lake City, UT) had 17 points while Jamie Karraker (Morgantown, WV) added 14 in the MIT victory.  

Lesley held on for a close first half, when a Bryant Itonyo (Medford, MA) jump shot narrowed down MIT's lead to two, 22-20, ten minutes into the game. The victors then produced a 16-4 run over the next five minutes. The Lynx struggled to keep up but were sent into the locker room trailing by 15 at 44-29.

The engineers came out of the half on a 14-4 run that put them up 58-33 with less than twelve minutes to play. Lesley fell behind by as much as 46 in the second half but ultimately fell 92-52.

MIT pulled down 50 boards in the win while Lesley was able to grab down 19. The game was fast with many possession changes due to 36 turnovers and 41 personal fouls. 

The Engineers will visit UMass-Boston this Tuesday, December 6th, at 7:00 p.m. The Lynx play athome this Monday, December 5th at 8:00 p.m. when they host Eastern Nazarene College.
