CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's basketball team earned their first victory of the 2009-2010 season with a 71-57 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday evening.  The Lynx improved to 1-5 with the help of four players in double figures while the Lions remained winless at 0-4.

Jesus Trejo (METHUEN, Mass./Methuen) recorded a double-double in the second half with 13 points and 12 rebounds to help maintain a double-digit Lesley lead over Eastern Nazarene.  Trejo finished with his first 20-20 game of the season with 20 points and 20 rebounds.

Bryant Itonyo (MEDFORD, Mass./Medford) and Jermaine Harris (HAVERHILL, Mass./Haverhill) each had 13 points a piece in the victory.  Both guards combined to go 6-for-9 from beyond the arc as the Lynx shot 47.4% from that range.  Sophomore guard Shawn Simmons (NORWALK, Conn./Brian McMahon) came off the bench to score 11 points in 21 minutes on the court.

The Lions were led by Jonathan Georges (RANDOLPH, Mass./Randolph) who hit 7-of-11 attempts from the floor for 16 points.  Georges was also aggressive on the boards with eight rebounds, four of which were offensive.  The junior center also blocked three shots in the loss.  Complementing Georges was freshman guard Max Barbosa (DORCHESTER, Mass./Cathedral) who netted 10 points and also tallied three steals and two assists.

The first half was dominated by the Lynx who took a 42-22 lead going into halftime.  In the period, Lynx captain Matt Grassa (EVERETT, Mass./Everett) dished out four of his game-high five assists to help Lesley's offensive cause.

In the second half, Lesley stretched their lead out to as large as 27 points but Eastern Nazarene trimmed the lead down to 14 points by the end of the game.  The Lions were aggressive following the change of possession by outscoring the Lynx 18-2 on fast break points.  Much of those points were due to forcing 15 Lesley turnovers in the second period.

Following the break, Lesley will host Tufts University on December 1 at 8:00 pm.  Eastern Nazarene will play in a tournament hosted by Western Connecticut State starting on November 27 against the host school.
