THE LEAD – The Lesley University baseball team continued its impressive stretch by winning its seventh game in a row with a 13-0 win versus Dean College Wednesday evening. The squads seven straight wins represent the longest win streak this season and is the most since last year when the Lynx won 12-straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley struck first Wednesday after Raymond Morales (Naugatuck, Conn.) took advantage of an error by Dean's second basemen that allowed him to score after he drew a lead-off walk.
  • The Lynx offense continued where it left off and put up a three-run second inning which was highlighted by a two-run RBI double from Christian McElroy (Toms River, N.J.) that made it 3-0 at the time.
  • In the third, Dean would threaten with the bases loaded and two outs and the go-ahead run at the pate. However, Lynx starter Andrew Gryniewicz (Hollis, N.H.) escaped the jam by striking out the next batter and kept the 4-0 lead in tact.
  • LU's bats would continue to stay hot as the squad put up a combine three runs between the third and fourth innings to go up 7-0 which included RBIs from Kevin Dorsey (Cibolo, Texas)Colby Jacobs (Charlton, Mass.), and Caden Shott (Richmond, Calif.)
  • Gryniewicz continued to keep the Bulldogs bats quiet as he only allowed just one hit from the fourth inning on and also struck out three batters as well.
  • Lesley's bats did their most damage in the sixth when the squad put up six runs to put the game even further out of reach by a score of 13-0. During the Lynx's offensive explosion, McCarthy highlighted the frame with his third home run of the season that made it 8-0 at the time. In the final inning, Gryniewicz retired the first two batters and despite allowing a two-out walk, he was able to retire the next batter which resulted in a seven-inning win for the Lynx.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • McCarthy has now homered in two of his last four games.
  • McElroy and Dorsey were the two other Lynx with multiple RBIs finishing with three and two respectively.
  • Gryniewicz was stellar in tonight's outing with his third complete game of the year. In his 7.0 IP tonight, he allowed a season-low three hits and fanned a career-high seven batters.
