THE LEAD – In Lesley's first games back since returning from Myrtle Beach, the Lesley University baseball team split its doubleheader at Fisher College by taking the first game, 4-3, and falling in a thriller in game two, 10-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)
- Lesley struck first in game one on Sunday courtesy of a Cal Caruso (Sarasota, Fla.) RBI double to right center that allowed Raymond Morales (Naugatuck, Conn.) to score after he had singled earlier in the inning. In the next at-bat, Colin McCarthy (Rehoboth, Mass.) drove a double to deep center that cleared the bases and made it a 3-0 ball game.
- In the second, Morales tacked on another run for the Lynx thanks to an RBI single, which drove home Owen Kalagher (Fairfield, Conn.) , who had singled earlier in the frame.
- From then on, Lesley starter Andrew Gryniewicz (Hollis, N.H.) was lights out. The senior pitcher kept the Falcons offense at bay for five innings and even escaped the fourth inning by forcing a double-play that ended the inning after a Falcons single in the at-bat prior.
- Fisher was able to cut the deficit to one in the sixth inning after a Yariel Salinas three-run shot to right-center made it a 4-3 ballgame. Despite the late rally, Gryniewicz got out of the sixth by forcing a ground out.
- In the final inning, the Falcons got runners on first and second after Gabriel Rivera reached on a bunt to lead off the seventh, and later, Armando Torres drew a walk. With two outs and the winning run at second, Gryniewicz once again escaped a jam when he was able to get a clutch groundout that secured the 4-3 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 1)
- Three different Lynx recorded an RBI on Sunday (Caruso, McCarthy, and Morales).
- Lesley outhit Fisher, 11-6. The Lynx have recorded 10+ hits in three of their last four contests.
- James Brandon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), McCarthy, and Morales all had two hits on the day.

- Salinas led the Falcons offense with three RBIs.
- Lucas Earle got the loss for Fisher after going 1.2 innings while allowing four runs on seven hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)
- Just like game one, game two started the same with the Lynx striking first. With runners on first and second with two outs, McCarthy came up to the plate and belted a three-run shot that hugged the right field line and gave the Lynx an early 3-0 advantage.
- However, Fisher would end up responding, scoring runs in the first, second, and the tying run in the fourth courtesy of an Alejandro Villar double to left-center. Despite the game being tied, Lesley would recapture the lead thanks to a three-run sixth inning highlighted by a two-run RBI double off the bat of Kevin Dorsey (Cibolo, Texas). Lesley would also add another run in the seventh courtesy of a two-run RBI double from Brandon that made it 8-3.
- Even with the large lead, the Falcons stormed back and evened things at eight with a five-run seventh that included a two-run RBI single from Michael Wright that made it 8-6 at the time. After a scoreless eighth, Lesley took a one-run lead in the ninth after Christian McElroy (Toms River, N.J.) laid down a nicely placed bunt, which allowed Brandon to score after he reached on a walk earlier in the frame.
- In the ninth, Fisher would not be denied as the hosts once again rallied and ended up pulling off the walk-off win. With two outs in the inning, Torres evened things at nine with an RBI single to right and in the following at-bat, Wright drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single to left for the 10-9 win.
