MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Despite being down 16-4 in the sixth, and 19-8 going into the bottom half of the seventh, the Lynx utilized an 11-run seventh to tie things at 19 and ultimately pull ahead in the eighth with five more runs for a thrilling 24-20 victory Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After scoring two runs in the first, FDU-Florham broke the game open in the second courtesy of an eight-run frame highlighted by an Xavier Diaz grand-slam that made it 10-0. Lesley finally got on the board in the bottom half of the inning courtesy of a Christian McElroy (Toms River, N.J.) RBI single.
  • From the third through the sixth innings, the Devils recorded at least one run in those innings which included a three-run sixth and put them up 16-4. The Lynx slowly started to pick away at the 12-run deficit with a four-run sixth highlighted by a hit from Colin McCarthy (Rehoboth, Mass.) that was misplayed by the right fielder which ended up clearing the bases for Lesley and made it a 16-8 game going into the the seventh.
  • FDU-Florham pushed its lead back to double digits (19-8) with a three-run inning, but Lesley's offense erupted in the bottom half of the frame as the squad plated 11 runs and tied the ballgame at 19. Kevin Dorsey (Cibolo, Texas) got things going in the inning by getting hit by a pitch. In the next at-bat, Caden Shott (Richmond, Calif.) recorded a single to center field and have the Lynx runners on first and second with no outs.
  • Later in the inning, Owen Kalagher (Fairfield, Conn.) ripped an RBI double to left center that brought Dorsey home to get the Lynx scoring started. As the inning progressed, Colby Jacobs (Charlton, Mass.) poked a single to left, which allowed Kalagher to score the tying run.
  • The Devils recaptured the lead in the eighth (20-19) courtesy of an RBI single from Cody Batsides but just like all game, Lesley responded once again. The Lynx loaded up the bases early in the bottom of the eighth when Shott sent a single to left, and in the following at-bat, McElroy drove in Dorsey, who got on base thanks to catcher interference, and Cal Caruso (Sarasota, Fla.), who notched a single earlier. Lesley tacked on three more insurance runs courtesy of Raymond Morales (Naugatuck, Conn.)James Brandon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), and Jacobs for a 24-20 lead going into the ninth.
  • Continuing where he left off last game, Morales shut down FDU-Florham's offense in the final inning to secure the 24-20 comeback win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Morales led the offense with four RBIs Tuesday. He was one of three Lynx to record at least three RBIs, with the other two being Caruso and McElroy, who both had two RBIs.
  • Four different Lynx notched three hits in the game (Kalagher, Brandon, Shott, and McElroy).
  • Morales notched his first collegiate win after coming in late in the seventh. He ultimately finished the day going 2.0 innings, gave up two hits, and fanned a career-high two.
  • For the Devils, Diaz paced the FDU-Florham offense with four RBIs.
  • Lesley's 24-runs marked a new program record.
  • The Lynx's 12-run comeback also marked a new program record.
  • The 11-runs scored in the seventh for the Lynx were the most runs scored in an inning for the squad as well.
