CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) preseason baseball poll, Lesley was voted third (four points), with SUNY Cobleskill (eight points) projected to win the division and VTSU Lyndon (six points) coming in at second. The squad kicks off the 2025 campaign on Sunday, March 9, with a doubleheader down in Myrtle Beach, S.C., against Wilmington (Ohio). First-year head coach Cody Mercier is excited for what's to come for the Lynx.
"Truly excited for the season to get underway," said Coach Mercier. "Our student-athlete's work ethic and determination this offseason has been noticeable. We are a talented ball club, and now it is time to prove it."
WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO
- D3baseball.com All-Region (Region 1) Second Team and American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings (ABCA) All-Region 1 Third Team honoree James Brandon (Manhatten Beach, Calif.) returns for the Lynx and will looked upon to be a top offensive contributor for Lesley this season. Last year's NAC Player of the Year had a stellar campaign for the Lynx batting .385 with a .512 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage. Brandon also set the Lesley program-record with 50 hits, including 14 doubles, one triple, and eight homers. He drove in 37 RBI to go along with 30 runs scored, drew 28 walks, and also stole five bases.
- Lesley returns four of its hitters who batted .300 or better in at least 30 games last season in Justin Dennett (Fairfield, Conn.), Kevin Dorsey (Ciblo, Texas), Owen Kalagher (Fairfield, Conn.), and Caden Shott (Richmond, Calif.) who batted .306, .303, .310, and .300 respectively.
- For the pitching staff, the Lynx bring back one of their top arms in Roy Lenhard (Shelton, Conn.), who finished with a 5-2 record in 44.1 innings pitched and struck out 42 to go along with a 3.65 ERA. Lenhard was one of three pitchers last season to finish with at least 40 strikeouts; one of the others was Jacob Nemergut (Monroe, Conn.), who also will be a key asset to the pitching staff this year. Last season, Nemergut posted a 3.04 ERA in 53.1 innings pitched and struck out a career-high 47 batters.
- Along with the 19 returners coming back this season, Coach Mercier has also brought a fresh new group of five new student-athletes to the squad who will be looked upon to make various contributions throughout the year. The five first-year student-athletes are pitcher Charles Ambroult (Quincy, Mass.), pitcher Logan Czachowski (Dorchester, Mass.), catcher Mason Erwin (Essex, Conn.), and infielder Raymond Morales (Naugatuck, Conn.).
- Lesley's schedule will include teams from various conferences, including the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), United East, New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), and the Conference of New England (CNE).
