THE LEAD – Fisher College scored six unanswered runs to defeat Lesley University on Thursday evening, 6-3, in some collegiate baseball action played at Fraser Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lynx pushed a pair across in the second to jump ahead early, 2-0. An RBI triple to right center by James Brandon plated Colby Jacobs for the first run of the night and then Christian McElroy drove in Brandon with a sac-fly to give Lesley the two-run lead.
- In the third, Justin Dennett made it 3-0 on an attempted double-steal that resulted in another run for LU.
- The Falcons got on the board in the fourth on an RBI single by Armando Torres before adding a second run in the fifth on a sac fly by Jeremy Renta to pull within a run at 3-2.
- Yariel Salinas tied the score in the seventh on an RBI groundout to knot things at 3-3.
- Torres delivered the big blow in the eight, driving in two on an RBI triple to right-center to push the hosts on top for good at 5-3. He would come around to score on an RBI double by Jatnier Torres to account for the 6-3 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Brandon finished the game going 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored and RBI to pace Lesley.
- In a bullpen day for the Lynx, Lesley saw seven pitchers throw getting scoreless appearances by Logan Watts, Kolten Moter and Evan Swift.
- Vance Serrano threw well for the Falcons going 7.0 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out nine in a no-decision.
- Josiel Carmona earned the win working the final 2.0 innings, allowing just one hit to go along with five K's to move to 3-0 on the season.
- Torres enjoyed a 3-for-4 and three RBI performance to power the hosts in the win.
