Lynx baseball wraps up season with split in doubleheader against NEC, 2-0 & 21-12.

Lexington, MA- The Lynx split the season finale doubleheader on Sunday against the NEC Pilgrims, 2-0 & 21-12, as they will now turn their attention towards the NECC conference tournament.

 

Inside Game 1:

  • Runs were hard to come by in this one, as there was a pitcher's duel between Dylan Langston and Krol. 
  • The Lynx cracked the scoreboard in the fifth, as a passed ball brought home Trevor Faison to make it 1-0. 
  • A batter later, a wild pitch brought home Christian McElroy to make it 2-0.
  • Right hander Dylan Langston was absolutely dominant in this on, with a complete game shutout. He would strike out 13 while only allowing 3 hits over 7 innings. 

 

Inside Game 2:

  • In a game that was completely the opposite of the prior affair, the Pilgrims scored 3 in the top half of the first. 
  • Lesley came back a half inning later, as a Jake Samela single drove home Colby Jacobs
  • A Christian McElroy walk then brought home James Brandon to make it 3-2. 
  • The top of the second saw NEC drive in 3 more to make it 6-2. 
  • Jacobs then drove a double in the second to push across Justin Dennett to make it 6-3. 
  • NEC drove home 2 more in the third to make it 8-3. 
  • A sac fly from Ian Dempsey would drive in Faison to push the game to 8-4. 
  • The fourth inning really made the difference for NEC, as a 5 run inning made it 13-4.
  • A Brandon sac fly made it 13-5 with Dennett scoring on the play. 
  • NEC would again tack on, making it 16-5. 
  • Colin McCarthy took liftoff in the bottom half of the fifth, blasting a three run home run to make it 16-8. 
  • The Lynx would then rally in the bottom of the sixth, as a McElroy single drove home Miles Chamberlain.
  • McCarthy then singled to drive home Christian Vignola to make it 16-10. 
  • Another Dempsey sac fly pushed across Faison to make it 16-11. 
  • McElroy would then score on an E2, making it 16-12 after 6. 
  • The Pilgrims would put it out of reach in the seventh, scoring 5 more to make it 21-12, where it would then go final a half inning later. 

 

Lynx Highlights:

  • Dylan Langston was dominant, with a complete game shutout over his 7 innings of work. With his 13 strikeouts, he now has 80 for the season.
  • Trevor Faison would reach base in 4 of his 5 plate appearances, scoring 4 times. 
  • Justin Dennett went 2-6 on the day, recording a double and a run scored. 
  • Colin McCarthy went 2-4 on the day, with a homerun to help drive in 4 while scoring once. 
  • Christian McElroy reached base in 3 of his 5 plate appearances, scoring 3 times and driving in 2 while also having a sac bunt. 
  • Colby Jacobs went 2-7 on the day with a triple. With that triple, he tied the single season record for triples with 3. 

 

Up Next:

The Lynx (13-23, 2-10) now look on to the conference tournament this weekend. They finished this season in fourth place. As a result, they will be taking on top seeded Mitchell Friday, May 5th at 11am in New London, CT. Following the outcome of the game, they will play in either bracket on Saturday, May 6th.
