The Lions take both ends of the doubleheader over the Lynx, 10-0 & 4-3

Weymouth, MA- The Lions of ENC take both ends of the conference doubleheader against the Lynx, with a game 1 final of 10-0 and game 2 final of 4-3. 

 

Inside Game 1:

  • The Lions took the lead in the first inning, as a fielder's choice turned into their first run of the game. 
  • A third inning home run off the bat of Ferguson extended the Lion's lead in the third inning. 
  • Lynx starter Roy Lenhard went 5+ innings, giving the Lynx a shot as the starter allowed only 2 runs prior to the sixth. 
  • The Lions did manage to knock Lenhard out in the sixth, scoring 8 in the inning to make the lead 10-0. 

 

Inside Game 2:

  • The Lynx took the lead in the top of the first, as a James Brandon single helped drive home Adam Budorick.
  • A Ferguson double drove home the Lion's first in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game at 1. 
  • Christian McElroy pushed the Lynx back ahead on a single in the second to plate Jake Samela, making the score 2-1. 
  • The Lions would then score 3 unanswered over the third and fourth innings to take the lead at 4-2. 
  • A James Brandon single would drive in Colby Jacobs, pushing the game to within 1. 
  • ENC would then hold on for the win by a final of 4-3. 

 

Lynx Highlights:

  • James Brandon went 4-6 with 2 runs batted in on the day. 
  • Adam Budorick went 2-7 on the day with a pair of stolen bases. 
  • Senior Nate Trudnich threw another scoreless inning in relief, reducing his ERA on the year to 1.50 over 6 outings. 
  • James Labombard went two scoreless innings, raising his strikeout total to 19 over 11 2/3 innings on the year. 
  • Both starters gave the team a chance through the two games, as Roy Lenhard collected 6 strikeouts over his 5+ innings of work while Brian Jacobus went 4 innings on the mound on the way to striking out 4. 

 

Lesley (9-16, 0-5) is back in action tomorrow, April 16th against the Lions of ENC to finish off the 3 game set. First pitch is set for 12pm for the 7 inning match-up.
