Langston & Rapoza Team to Shut Down Curry in 11 Inning Win

GAME OVERVIEW:

MILTON, MA. – The Lesley Lynx Baseball team earned a 1-0 extra inning victory over the Curry College Colonels on Monday afternoon. The Lynx advance to 14-21-1 overall this sesaon, while the Colonels fall to 10-19.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • This one was a pitcher's duel, with both teams combining for only nine hits over an eleven inning game. The Lynx threatened with runners on second and third in the top of the first, but from there Curry starter Bobby Marshall retired nine straight batters.
  • Dylan Langston was fantastic for Lesley, allowing only seven total baserunners over a full nine innings. He struck out six Curry batters while keeping them from pushing across a run. Marshall and Conor Quinlan were almost as excellent, but the Lynx got the last laugh on Quinlan.
  • After ten scoreless innings, the Lynx finally got a run in. James Brandon reached on an error by Curry shortstop Ryan Goonan and advanced to third on a wild pitch and passed ball. Ronnie James drove Brandon in with a base hit to make it 1-0 Lynx.
  • All that was left for Lesley was to shut the Colonels down in the bottom of the eleventh. Christian Rapoza came in to relief Langston in the tenth inning and retired all six batters he faced, striking out two of them. Rapoza got the extra inning win to bring his season record to 5-1.
