
CAMBRIDGE, MA. -- The Lesley Lynx Baseball team was voted into fourth place in the 2022 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coaches' Poll. The Lynx earned three points in the poll, coming a thte bottom of the group as they come into the season with a core of returning players and a bevy of freshmen pitchers looking to help the program take the next step forward.
Seniors Ian Spillane and Ronnie James lead the group of returnees. Spillane hit .391 last season with seven doubles and drove in eight runs, while James had a breakout year at the plate. He hit .289 and crushed three home runs while driving in fifteen. The Lynx struggled on the mound last season, posting a 16.27 team ERA. They hope to change their fortunes this season, welcoming returning arms like Jonathan Truscott and Christian Rapoza alongside several freshmen and transfer student-athletes.
Mitchell College, last season's champions, came first in the poll. The Mariners earned three of four first place votes, good for nine total points as they look to repeat. Behind them was New England College with the remaining first place vote and seven points total while Eastern Nazarene coming just ahead of the Lynx with five points.
