NECC Tournament: #3 Lesley travels to #2 New England College

Cambridge, Mass. – The third-seeded Lesley baseball team will take on second-seeded New England College in Henniker,  N.H. in game three of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament on Thursday at 4:00PM. Here is preview of what's to come this weekend.

THE BRACKET (double-elimination): The winner between Lesley and New England College (NEC) will advance to play the winner of No. 1 Mitchell and No. 4 Eastern Nazarene (ENC) at 12:30 PM on Saturday. Meanwhile, the losers of both previously mentioned games will play in a winner-take-all matchup on Saturday at 9:30AM, the winner of that game will play at 3:30 on Saturday for in place in championship game on Sunday.  All games from Saturday through Sunday will be played at Mitchell College.

LESLEY VS NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE: Lesley split their last meeting with the Pilgrims, with Lesley capturing the first game 5-4, while NEC took game two 10-2. This is the first time the Lynx and Pilgrims will play against each other in the NECC tournament.

LESLEY OVERVIEW (12-23): 

Lesley comes in following an 8-2 victory over Becker College, riding a four game winning streak. Lesley have posted offensive stats in conference, in the following categories: average (6th, .264), runs (7th, 78), hits (6th, 117), homeruns (T-2nd, 10), runs batted in (7th, 63), walks (3rd, 64), on-base percentage (6th, .370), and slugging percentage (5th, .417). Meanwhile defensively, Lesley boasts a .958 fielding percentage (4th) and have turned 13 double plays (2nd).

NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE OVERVIEW (22-15): 

NEC comes in as one of the top offensive teams in the conference, in the following categories: average (1st, .371), runs (2nd, 116), hits (1st, 176), homeruns (1st, 12), runs batted in (2nd, 127), walks (1st, 67), on-base percentage (2nd, .454), and slugging percentage (1st, .545). Meanwhile defensively, NEC boasts 9.83 strikeouts per nine innings (1st), and a 3.06 earned run average (2nd).

MITCHELL OVERVIEW (32-6): 

The Mariners comes into the tournament on an 18 game winning streak, and as one of the top offensive teams in the conference, in the following categories: average (2nd, .351), runs (1st, 145), hits (2nd, 163), doubles (3rd, 33), runs batted in (1st, 126), walks (2nd, 65), on-base percentage (1st, .461), and slugging percentage (2nd, .459). Meanwhile defensively, Mitchell has a 2.84 earned run average (1st), and 8.03 strikeouts per nine innings (2nd).

EASTERN NAZARENE OVERVIEW (20-17): 

The Lions comes in after a 4-2 over Southern Vermont College to secure spot in bracket. Offensively in conference, the Lions post numbers in the following categories: average (7th, .257), runs (6th, 80), hits (7th, 112), homeruns (5th, 7), runs batted in (6th, 65), walks (6th, 57), on-base percentage (7th, .341), and slugging percentage (7th, .331). Meanwhile defensively, ENC boasts 6.36 strikeouts per nine innings (5th), and a 4.73 earned run average (3rd).
