Winter Haven, FL - Lesley University baseball and St. Scholastica each took a win from doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Winter Haven, Florida. Lynx captured the first game 7-1, while the Saints took the second game, 7-3. Both teams start the season with records of 1-1.
GAME 1-LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS:
- Lesley opened the scoring in the second inning after a Nicholas Ferragine (Randolph, N.J.) ground out. Later in the inning, Will Rhone (North Haven, CT.) singled to bring Steven DePalma (Albertson, N.Y.) around home.
- The Lynx opened up the game after a four run fourth inning. Vincent Taliercio (Valley Stream, N.Y.), Javi Martinez (Chelsea, MA.), and Ryan Pumphret (Shrewsbury, MA.) registered back-to-back-to-back hits to put four Lynx across the plate.
- Lesley would collect another run in the top of the sixth courtesy of a Saints wild pitch.
- Brett Dabrowski (South Windsor, CT.) pitched a complete game only allowing one run off six hits. Collected five strikeouts throughout the game.
GAME 2-LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS:
- A Martinez single brought home Rhone to put the Lynx on the board. Pumphret followed with a single up the middle to plate Martinez.
- Pumphret, Rhone, and Martinez all picked up two hits in the loss.
- Matthew Warner (San Diego, CA.) and Ferragine lead the Lynx in putouts with six and five respectively.
Lesley (1-1) return to the diamond the following day, taking on Westfield State College at 9:45AM, from Kissimmee, Florida.
