Lynx Blank Raiders, 16-0 in Non-Conference Play

Lynx Blank Raiders, 16-0 in Non-Conference Play

NASHUA, N.H. - Sophomore Nick DeGrenier (Marshfield, Mass.) tossed his first career shut-out as the Lynx blanked non-conference Rivier University, 16-0, Tuesday evening. The Lynx move to 14-10 overall while the Raiders dip to 1-22.

The story of the night was the pitching from DeGrenier who limited the Rivier offense to just four hits in a complete game shutout effort. The South Shore native struck out four and did not issue a walk over his nine innings of work.

Rivier freshman Alex DiVito (Somerville, Mass.) went five innings in just his second career start as the right-hander allowed ten runs, five earned, on six hits while striking out two. Classmates Martin Acosta (Salem, N.H.), Brennan Reeves (Coventry, R.I.) and Christopher Ciacci (New Bedford, Mass.) allowed just one earned run (six total) over the final four frames.

Junior Tyler Ferdinand (Middleboro, Mass.) recorded two of the Raiders' four hits off of DeGreiner as he finished the evening going 2-for-3 while senior Jacob Rayner (Billerica, Mass.) and junior Jonathan De La Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) smacked a double each to account for the offensive output.

Offensively the Lynx were led by senior Mike Slaby (Foxboro, Mass.) who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Sophomore Nick Ferragine (Randolph, N.J.) also went 2-for-4 and sophomore Gage Reycroft (Fort Myers, Fla.) finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Lesley returns to the diamond and New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action tomrorow when they travel to Chicopee, Mass. for a double-header against Elms College. First pitch at 5:00 p.m.

Next up for the Raiders will be another non-conference tilt at Historic Holman Stadium on Thursday evening as they welcome Plymouth State University for a 7:05pm first pitch.
