Framingham State Slugs Past Baseball

NORTHBORO, Mass. –  Framingham State University slugged their way past Lesley University 19-0 in a rain-soaked evening at the New England Baseball Complex in Northboro, Mass. Senior infielder Ivan Colon (Waltham, Mass.) hit two homeruns to power the attack as the Rams improve to 8-5 on the year, while the loss drops the Lynx to 4-9 on the season.

The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the second on a two RBI single to right field off the bat of senior Matt Gerard (Milford, Mass.) before FSU tacked on eight runs in the bottom of the third including a solo homerun and a three run shot from Colon.  Senior Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) also plated a pair in the inning with a two RBI single. 

The Rams capped the scoring with nine runs in the seventh including a three RBI double from freshman Chris Riga (Westfield, Mass.).

Junior Dillon Corliss (Winterport, Maine) earned the victory in the circle going five innings and allowing no runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts.  Freshman Jeff Heinz (Portsmouth, N.H.) suffered the loss for the Lynx as he falls to 1-2 on the year. 

Lesley sophomore Mike Slaby (Foxboro, Mass.) and freshman Nick Iadevaio (Mineola, N.Y.) both recorded doubles for the Lynx while senior John Gosnell (Toronto, Ont.) and freshman Justin Clark (Chino Hills, Calif.) each finished with hits in the loss.

The Lynx are scheduled to return to the New England Baseball Complex tomorrow as they host Daniel Webster College in New England Collegiate Conference play at 7:00p while the Rams are slated to return to the diamond on Saturday with a doubleheader at Fitchburg State.
