CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley shortstop Aqib Shah was named All-NECC First Team, and right fielder Tyler Plourd and first baseman Peter Plansky were each named All-NECC Second Team, the league announced Monday.
Head coach Mike Rocco was named NECC Coach of the Year following his team's eight-win improvement from 2011, and the Lynx were also awarded the NECC Sportsmanship Award.
Shah led the Lynx with 17 RBI's, eight doubles, 16 walks and 109 at-bats, ranking second on the team with 18 runs, 27 hits and two home runs.
Plourd finished fourth in the NECC in hitting with a .380 batting average and fifth with a .462 on-base percentage in his first season of college ball. He also led the Lynx with 38 hits, 17 RBI's, and a .440 slugging percentage and finished second on the team with 16 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.
Plansky finished third in the NECC in home runs during league games with three, which led the Lynx. He tied for the team lead with two triples and came in second on the Lynx with 106 at-bats.
Lesley finished its season 8-26, going 4-14 in NECC play a year after going 0-28. Shah, Plourd and Plansky are the program's first student-athletes to receive all-conference recognition.
