BENNINGTON, VT -- Pete Plansky's second-inning home run gave the Lynx a lead the team never relinquished and made a winner out of starter Greg Anglin, 3-2 over Southern Vermont on Saturday.

The team lost the opener 10-0.

Plansky went 2-for-3 in Game 2, driving in shortstop Aqib Shah with his two-run shot to right-center field. The score stayed 2-0 until the sixth, when Shah singled home Tyler Plourd, who led off the frame with a single, stole second and advanced on a wild pitch.

Shah's single soon proved to be key insurance, as Southern Vermont picked up two runs in the bottom of the inning. Pat Warrington doubled home Keith Diotte and scored on a Corey Armstrong ground out to pull within 3-2, but that was as much leeway as Anglin would allow.

The left-hander retired the side in order to wrap up the win in the seventh, inducing a ground ball and a pair of pop ups to end it. He struck out four in his seven innings, allowing six hits and walking two in picking up his team-leading third win of the year.

Shah went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and freshman Joe Muratore doubled in the win.

Game 1 starter Jeff Landry let up three runs through his first two innings and the Mountaineers hit him for three more in the fourth, with a Diotte double scoring Max Ginter and Diotte then scoring on an Armstrong single. That marked the exit for Landry, who called it a day after five innings and five earned, and Southern Vermont added four runs on four hits off reliever Bryen Desjardin in the sixth for the 10-0 win.

Ray Cohen went 2-for-3 out of the leadoff spot for the Lynx.

The teams square off in the rubber match tomorrow at noon back at Epstien Field.
