CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Following the first week of his college career, Lesley University outfielder Tyler Plourd has been named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.

Plourd hit a scorching .588 in his first week of college ball on the Lynx Florida swing, going 10-for-17 on the week with a double, a stolen base and five runs scored in five games played, including the first win in Lynx program history. The Canton, CT-native provided solid defense at both corner outfield positions.

On Monday, he went 1-for-3 with a run scored in his first NECC game against Elms College and went 1-for-4 with two RBI's in the nightcap against the Blazers.

Plourd and the Lynx return to the field on Wednesday in non-conference play at Gordon College.
